Launch of climate change app at Chapter

We had a very successful launch of the new climate change app ‘You’re Getting Warmer!’ in Chapter Arts Centre. Over 50 people from from Riverside and Senghenydd, came to the screening to see the animations made by children from both communities. They audience participated in quiz questions on the subject of global warming as one teacher present commented, “It was absolutely fantastic and the children were buzzing with excitement. It was great to see them involved with work of such exceptional quality. Hopefully they will now view themselves as potential film makers.”

 

The Stute

The story of Oakdale working men’s institute as the cultural hub of a Valley’s mining community. Winner First Light Award for best film by over 13s; nominated for a BAFTA Cymru. Made with young people aged 13-17.

Just Like That!

A short Arts Council of Wales funded film made with children from Bedwas Junior School following Tommy Cooper as he makes a whistle stop tour of his home town Caerphilly performing magic tricks that don’t always go to plan! Winner of the Media 4 Schools best animation award 2013.

Cinema Memories

A short animated documentary about the history of cinema in the Afan Valley using reminiscences of older residents and animated by young people. This film was made as part of the Film in Afan project funded by the Big Lottery.
