Three new films were given their world premiere at Blackwood Miners Institute last week. Just Like That, Shadows of Senghenydd and Pit Plot all made with young people in the Rhymney area. The screening was very well attended with the Tommy Cooper Society and Bedwas Junior School eager to see the film made by the children about the comedian, who was born in Caerphilly.
The Senghenydd film made by young people from Senghenydd Youth Drop in Centre was also well received on the centenary anniversary of this devastating explosion. The film focussed on the number of young people who died in this tragic event. Ynysddu Youth Centre’s film based on the humorous reminiscences of allotment owners raised a laugh particularly the perils and benefits of Marrow Brandy!
